This interactive course provides participants with a foundational understanding of Indigenous trauma-informed practice (ITIP), centering Indigenous knowledge, lived experiences, and cultural healing frameworks. Grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing and being, this course examines the intergenerational impacts of colonial policies such as the Indian Act, residential schools, and the Sixties Scoop, and how these historical injustices continue to affect Indigenous individuals and communities today. Through discussion, case studies, and guided reflection, participants will explore the intersections of trauma, lateral violence, and resilience. The course highlights Indigenous-led approaches to healing, such as land-based wellness, Two-Eyed Seeing, and cultural safety practices. By the end of the course, participants will leave with practical strategies for applying trauma-informed principles in their personal and professional contexts, contributing to Reconciliation efforts in ways that honor Indigenous self-determination and strength.
